About the Gulf neurology licensing exams (UAE and Saudi Arabia)
This page covers the neurology licensing exams in the UAE (DHA, DOH) and Saudi Arabia (SCFHS). Neurologists moving to either country usually sit a computer-based licensing exam. Here is what the authorities publish, and how HighYieldNeuro fits.

Neurologists who move to the UAE or Saudi Arabia usually need to pass a licensing exam before they can register as a specialist.
In the UAE, holders of a Tier 1 specialty certificate are exempt, including the US (ABPN), UK (CCT), Canadian (Royal College) and Emirati Board certificates. The Arab Board and the Saudi, Jordanian and Kuwaiti boards are Tier 2 and are not exempt by default (Unified Professional Qualification Requirements, April 2025). Exemptions have conditions, such as a limit on time out of practice; check with the authority.
Format
- DHA (Dubai): Specialist Neurology: 150 MCQs in 3 hours (including check-in) at Prometric centres (exam code NRO5011). Pass mark 65%; the result is pass or fail only. Fee USD 280.
- DHA coverage: Cerebrovascular, epilepsy, cognitive, movement, neuro-immunology, neuro-infectious, neuromuscular, headache, systemic neurology, clinical neurophysiology, patient safety, and professionalism and ethics. No percentages are published.
- DHA: Consultant Neurology: Assessed by an oral exam with a panel of examiners, not the computer-based test.
- DOH (Abu Dhabi): Delivered by Pearson VUE. DOH does not publish a neurology item count, fee or pass mark; check with DOH.
- SCFHS (Saudi Arabia): Neurology licensing exam: 200 MCQs in 4 hours at Prometric centres. Pass mark: Registrar 65%, Senior Registrar 70%. The official sample items have four options (A–D); SCFHS's general MCQ rule is one best answer of four.
- SCFHS attempts: Three attempts in total. Eligibility lasts three months, with two tries inside that window. SCFHS publishes windows for its licensure exams; confirm neurology dates in Mumaris+ / with Prometric.
Eligibility
- Eligibility to sit is issued by each licensing authority (for SCFHS, through Mumaris+). MOHAP (Sharjah and the northern emirates) does not publish a neurology specification we could confirm; check with MOHAP.
Upcoming sittings
These exams are booked through the testing provider rather than held on one date: DHA and SCFHS through Prometric, DOH through Pearson VUE. SCFHS publishes windows for its licensure exams; confirm neurology dates in Mumaris+ / with Prometric.
